I was asked if I bought anything on my road trip. I wish I had that much will power. Here is a portion of what I purchased.
I missed posting on Memorial Day and I wanted to show you my patriotic plate. I travel to see my sister every other year out to San Diego. We try to take a painting class when I am there. Here is what I painted at the all day seminar.
When it rains it pours. Saturday, we moved Megan back home . Of course nothing can be simple. We were moving Megan's furniture out to the lawn, so when DH showed up we could just throw it on the back of the truck. I am talking college furniture here, nothing valuable. Sounds pretty simple, unless you are Megan carrying a glass desktop and hit the corner of it on the cement sidewalk, shattering it. Megan cut her leg pretty good. She thought she needed stitches, I thought we could butterfly it. After scrambling around, we came up with some band aids to butterfly it. I don't want to sound like a bad mom here, but it really wasn't deep enough for stitches after we cleaned the cut.
Now here is where life throws you a curve ball. I received a phone call from one of George's "friends" (using this term loosely)that he had passed out at the Indy 500. I needed to get to the ER asap. He collapsed on lap 158. One minute he was talking, the next he was slurring his words, then collapsed. Now common sense would say something is wrong, they let him lay there until the race was over, 40 minutes. He could have died, in fact he quit breathing. A good Samaritan called the EMTs into the bleachers to get him. They rushed him to the ER, did a Cat-scan couldn't find any thing wrong.
They later transferred him to ICU. When they allowed me into the ICU, I warned the nurse that George could and would be a real pistol when he woke up. She assured me she could hand him, Nurse Ratched as she referred to herself. The girls & I were talking amongst ourselves how she didn't know George.
On Monday morning, they let the sedation wear off. He woke up wondering why he was tied to a bed and had a tube down his throat. After they removed the breathing tube, he wanted to know who won the race. He must have given her a really hard time, because when he wanted to call me the nurse told him I was busy reading over his life insurance policy. lol!
They later released him, but he had to promise to get an MRI. He is doing fine now, but probably aged me 10 years. In fact, he went to work on Tuesday. He is scheduled to have an MRI tomorrow. Hopefully, this will shed some light on what caused him to collapse. You can imagine why I am counting my blessings, this could have turn out completely different. Thank goodness for the angel looking out for him. I will keep you posted on the results.
Thanks for all your comments. Until next time, keep stitching!

OMG Tanya! What a curveball that all was! I'm so glad your DD and DH are ok...what a scare with both of them! Hope it's nothing serious...will be watching for an update...
Your plate is beautiful! I can barely paint furniture, much less something like what you've done, so color me IMPRESSED :-)
Hope you have a peaceful weekend and week ahead!
xoxo
Good grief, some friends!!! I'm so relieved to hear your DH seems to be doing okay now and wish you much strength for the MRI on Friday.
And through all of this you still managed to work on your stocking? Very impressive!
Oh my, it must be a scary day for you. Glad to hear they are doing fine.
I hope the MRI gives you the answers you need and they figure out what's going on with George. You poor thing. Your stocking looks great -- and that plate! It's amazing!
Men can be so stupid can't they - Sounds to me like your DH might have been overcome by the heat - being in a crowded stand even if it was not real hot it is thick and the sun bearing down - heat stroke gives the symptoms you described - slurred speech, passing out is common, it can and does affect breathing - not to say heat stroke is good but it might not be a medical condition and I'm hoping it is not and nothing is found. hope you have a more restful weekend and can enjoy some stitching. Melody
Wow, he has great friends huh?! I cant even!! At least he is ok now, and hopefully the MRI will go well, and you will get to the bottom of this all. Keep your head up, there is a reason for everything. Your stocking is really coming along too--love it!
Tanya - I love your stocking progress and that plate is absolutely beautiful!
I'm glad to hear that George is doing better and hope that everything goes well with the MRI and if they find anything it is easily preventible in the future. Between that and your daughter's mishap, you've had a heck of a week!
Hope you have a very peaceful weekend.
What a scary story Tanya, so glad all is well now, is Indy 500 on motorcycle's? or cars?
After all that you must be glad to stitch a bit now to calm the nerves, your sock is coming along nicely.
First off your plate is gorgeous!
Second, I'm sorry about the glass top mishap...that's awful.
Lastly I just got your e-mail...bit hectic around here...and I am SORRY to hear about your husband. Good grief...40 minutes later? Some friends...I hope your DH kicks them to the curb. Take care...I'm thinking and praying for you all....
Oh my goodness, Tanya!! What a scary situation. I sure hope the MRI shows the cause of George's troubles and I'm praying it's nothing too serious. LOVE your patriotic piece. You are so talented! Great progress on your stocking.
((((((((((((((Tanya))))))))))) I hope Megan & George both are doing better now. Hang in there, gf!! Your stitching is beautiful, and your plate?? Dang, girl! Talk about multi-talented!
I do hope George's MRI sheds some light on what happened. Your stocking is beautiful and congrats on finishing the BBD LF. I love that one. Shame, I haven't stitched it yet. I'm thinking of getting that With These Hands book too - it looks like a winner!
